Ena Hirose is a Japanese professional ballet dancer, choreographer, and ballet instructor with extensive international training, performance, choreography, and teaching experience.

She graduated from Shoin Women’s Junior College in Osaka, Japan, majoring in English Studies.

Beginning in 1989, she pursued advanced ballet training internationally at prestigious institutions including:

• The Vaganova Ballet Academy (Russia)

• Hans Meister Summer Ballet School (Switzerland)

She later continued her professional ballet education at the Bolshoi Ballet School and Australia National Theater Ballet School, where she graduated with honors from the two-year professional program in 1995 and earned a Diploma of Arts in Classical Dance.

During her studies, she also received awards including:

• “The Kathleen Gorham Most Outstanding Student Award”

• “Encouragement Award for Diploma of Arts Course”

Throughout her professional career, she performed with:

• Shanghai Ballet Company (China)

• New South Wales Ballet Company (Australia)

• Australian National Theatre Ballet

She danced numerous principal and title roles in classical ballet productions including:

• Swan Lake

• Coppélia

• Don Quixote

• Giselle

as well as many other classical repertoire works.

Her international performance highlights include:

• Performing the role of Swanhilda in Coppélia alongside Connor Walsh, Principal Dancer of Houston Ballet (USA), in 2013

• Performing at the International Ballet Gala 2012 in Kuala Lumpur with Hironao Takahashi

• Dancing the role of Kitri in Don Quixote with Robert Curran, Principal Dancer of The Australian Ballet

• Performing the Giselle pas de deux with Yuri Possokhov, as well as Peasant Pas de Cinq alongside principal dancers of San Francisco Ballet at the gala “Yuan Yuan Tan and 8 Ballet Super Stars” in Nara, Japan

Since 1992, she has been an official member of the Japan Ballet Association.

In 1999, she founded Ena Ballet Studio and has served as Artistic Director since its establishment.

Beginning in 2003, Ena Ballet Studio established an international educational partnership with the State Ballet School Berlin in Germany. In 2008, the studio also formed a partnership with Houston Ballet Academy BSA, one of the four major ballet institutions in the United States.

From 2004 to 2011, Ena Hirose directed the full-time professional ballet education program “Ena Ballet Studio Extended Education,” where she nurtured and trained talented young dancers while supporting their advancement into international ballet education and professional opportunities overseas.

Through these international collaborations and educational activities, Ena Ballet Studio earned a strong reputation for providing authentic classical ballet education that combines Japanese discipline with international artistic standards.

In 2006, she co-founded Ena Ballet Studio Company (EBSC) and became its Co-Director.

Although she retired from professional stage performance in 2014, she continues to dedicate herself to ballet education, choreography, and stage production through Ena Ballet Studio.

Drawing from her extensive international training, stage, choreography, and teaching experience, Ena Hirose provides authentic classical ballet education that nurtures not only precise technique, but also artistry, musicality, elegant expression, and emotional sensitivity.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes not only technical excellence, but also the cultivation of confidence, discipline, individuality, sensitivity, and inner beauty within every student.
